Just another day
We did some more fishing this weekend.

Bug's first catch.

Bo "read" me his hat, "Fisher kids get bite's too"

Very exciting! I will have to hold on to that memory for the next hundred time we go fishing and I catch nothing.

My Husband Rocks

My sweet baby, without my asking, offered to go for me. Not only did he go for me after he worked all day but he missed most of the basketball game he wanted to watch. Because of his selfless act I was able to get three of the things cooked last night. Not only did he make last night easier for me he eased my load today because now I don't have to do all that shopping and can continue my cooking and party planning.

Here's a little something to cool you off
This is how you know you are behind on your blogging. It's nearly 100 degrees outside and I still have pictures of snow I haven't posted.
That Friday morning we headed down the street to Kati's best friend's grandmothers house. Taylor and her parents were coming by and asked if we wanted to come play in the snow.

It was really good snow for angels and I was glad that Bear didn't care he was getting snow all down his pants. I love this smile.

After we headed home we changed our wet clothes and settled in for lunch when I heard a knock at the door. It was my Daddy. It was a nice surprise. It shouldn't have been a surprise since we had plans for him to come but with all the snow it slipped my mind. So we bundled back up and headed out back to play.
This is a big ball of snow that Kati and I rolled together. Man was that thing heavy. They should definitely make snow rolling an event on the Biggest Loser.
And this was the best part of my day.

For the first time in 27 years I got to make a snow man with my Daddy. Never done anything like that before. It was nice to get a childhood memory even if I had to wait this long to get it.
(You will have to ignore how sad he looks. I didn't think
to take a picture until the poor guy was melting.)

Ponderings

Bear is our early riser, always has been. Yesterday morning he crawled into bed with me and snuggled up close while I read. Out of the corner of my eye I watch him fiddle his fingers together in the air and he asks me, "Momma, what's a step-mom and a step-father?". We laid there and talked about that for a while, not really a fun, bright cheery morning talk but he asked. Then his mind wondered to our extended family. He wondered aloud how Jeffrey and I had the same dad since Jeff's dad didn't help grow me or marry my mom (pretty deep ponderings for a new five year old). After explaining how all of that works he wanted to know why my "first dad didn't want" me "anymore".
Although it wasn't a light-hearted talk to start our day it was nice to be able to explain some deep things to him. His mind fascinated me of logical he saw it all and it opened the door to explain some grown up things to him. To explain that it wasn't that my father didn't want me anymore. To explain how Dan became my dad before Jeffrey and I married. To explain how our family works. How we don't see each other as in laws but just family.
He has a big heart and is a sensitive little man. He reminds me of Jeffrey and Dan in more than one way. It's one of the many reasons I love my Bear.
I love me some picnik

My Husband Rocks

Jeffrey planned a trip for just the two of us. Not only did he plan the trip with out telling me but he also arranged childcare for while we were gone (thanks mom and dad) and called my job to get me time off. I didn't have to do anything but pack me things and twiddle my thumbs until the day came for us to leave. How nice to not have to think of one little thing before our time away.
We had a wonderful time. I only wish I had taken more pictures. Thank you Jeffrey for the time away.
