I believe this is from Bear receiving an award for Student of the Month.  He cracks me up.

Ouch

I love this picture.  I don't know how well you can see it but Bo has cactus hairs in his finger.  I think his facial expression is priceless.

Bear's First Day

"Good.  I like it." is about all I can get out of Bear when I ask him about this school year.

In with the old

I have all these toys I packed away because our kiddos out grew them.  Secretly they are just toys I love to much to part with so I put out the excuse that maybe someday I would watch kids out of our home and I would need them.  In preparation for our foster kids we were cleaning toys and getting more of the play room ready.  Did I mention we were cleaning toys 'cause my kids seem to think we are just playing with them.....

They have been in there for about an hour.  Too cute.

Growing up

At some point while I was away from home Bug started to grow up even more.  I noticed when I came home that she had almost stopped biting all of her nails.  I encouraged her and she was all done biting by the end of the week.  She now sports nicely trimmed, manicured and painted finger nails.  She is more concerned, I don't like that (it sounds vain), lets say more aware of her appearance.  She notices if her hair is out of place and is brushing it on her own.  She loves clothes and fashion.  I am being sure to emphasize the importance of who we are instead of our looks.  I think she gets it as much as an 8 year can get.

I think I am going to have a shopping buddy  and a possible clothes thief in the future....
while we were shoe shopping for the kids I noticed some heels that were calling to me.  I went over to check them out knowing they weren't going home with me.  Out loud I said, mostly to myself, "I don't even know why I am looking at theses.  We aren't shoe shopping for me."  To which Kati replied "Yeah, but one little peek won't hurt."

First Day of School

The kids went back to school yesterday.  Incredibly early, right?

No, Bo didn't take Daddy Bubba in the classroom with him, he just went along for the van ride.  It was a little bit of a messy first day.  The school changed the pick up and drop off zone.  I think the new plan will work out really well it just didn't for the first day since you have an over flow of parent drop off.  It was a like chaotic.

And my poor Bug.  I wish I could use the teachers names because I think it makes this sound more....fun?  Okay, Kati met Teacher A on the last day of school.  When we got to the school on Friday for meet the teacher night we met Teacher B, Teacher A got a coaching job somewhere else.  Yesterday morning (the first day) we met Teacher C.  Teacher C really works some where in administration.  Teacher B, who had just been hired on Tuesday, had a family emergency and won't be able to take the position.  Teacher C obviously won't be staying.  So today Kati will get Teacher D who will be a long term sub.  Teacher D may get the job or it could be someone new.

Phew!!  Out of the three kids Kati was the best one for it to happen to.  She is taking it great.  Not only that but she got  mini lesson on job hiring from Jeff because of the situation.  Everything is a learning experience.

Bear didn't talk much about his day.  They did math first, his favorite.  He is such a wiz at math.  I know they had P.E., also a favorite, and he ate all of his lunch.  Maybe he didn't have a lot to say because it encompassed all of his favorites. Math, physical movement, and food.  He did tell me he got a little bit ahead of the teacher on the class work.  He heard someone get praise for working quietly so he forged ahead for his praise. So Bear :)

Timothy's day  started at 5:45 with him silently standing in my dark bedroom rubbing Daddy Bubba's tail in his ear.  "I don't want to go to Kindergarten" is what he said it the most pitiful tiny voice and it pretty much went down hill from there.  He spent the next 30 minutes on my love seat because he wouldn't allow himself to cuddle with Jeff.  Most of the rest of the morning was sassy words, screams, slaps and general grumpiness. -I hope this morning goes better-  When we got Bo to class he told Jeff he didn't want him to leave.  When we picked Bo up he told Jeff he almost got a warning card for talking to much.  He is my social one :)

Looking forward to seeing how today goes.......

Chick-fil-a

Like many Americans today I waited in line to buy Chick-fil-a.  There were countless cars and our wait in line began outside of their parking lot.  I did not do this today to say that I hate gay people.  Over the course of my life I have been aquaintinces, friends, and/or family with 4 homosexuals.

Mr. Cathy did not say in his interview that he hated gay people.  I hate that because of some Christians actions and because of some homosexuals assumptions that we are all lumped together in our beliefs.  I do not support gay marriage.  I won't ever support gay marriage.  Do I hate the people who do support it?  Absolutely not.

Today was a great opportunity to share with my kids.  We talked about God's wants for our lives.  We talked about peoples choices and how we are to react to those choices- love those people, just not their choice.  I want my children to grow up understanding we are all different, we all have our own struggles.  God doesn't love me any less with my struggles.  He doesn't love you less with your struggles.  We are broken people.  I wish everyone could just see that.  Everyone struggles with something, gossiping, stealing, infidelity, put things/people before God, homosexuality, addictions, gluttony, lying.  God wants us all to choose Him.  And those struggles don't always go away when you become a Christian you just now have Someone to lean on.
