He keeps us busy...and a little tired.

Yes, I know it is dangerous to leave a baby on a table and yes I know he shouldn't be next to the sowing machine. No, I did not put him there, he got there on his own. It's his new favorite place to be and yes I keep taking him down.

There are times when I feel old...

Like when I had to have Jeff explain to me what an MP3 player was. And then I felt a little older when the baby used it before I did.

A boy and a frog

So Timothy has this frog that he named "Bubba", well actually he calls all toys bubba but if you say "go get your Bubba then he will come back with the frog, he is totally in love with it. Kati and Bear never really had a special toy like that when they were babies and we kind of forced it on Timbo. I put a smaller version of Bubba in his crib every night just hoping he would notice it one day and like it. And he did. So then I thought I just had to buy a bigger one and he became even more attached. I think it has a lot to do with the tag at the bottom of the frog. He would suck this thumb and play with the tag, all the time. It's even how he would fall asleep. Eventually the tag became so loved that most of it fell off but he loved it still. He loves it so much that Timothy won't sleep without it. He wakes up in the middle of the night if he can't feel it near him.

I became worried that if it were to get lost what the ramification would be so yesterday I bought a back up Bubba, exactly like the original, for the mental well being of our child. But I am pretty sure after you watch this video you will see that if Bubba does get lost Timbo won't be fooled by imitations.

Well, at least I know she is listening

"So Mom, are we like Israelites, or like humans or what?!"

Flashback Friday

Is it cheating to call it "Flashback Friday" if it only happened last Friday?

I know, I know, you are probably thinking "Another post about the zoo!", but the truth is we would live there if it were possible. In fact , Kati has already said that she wants her room with the penguins.
So I know I told you last time that every time we go to the zoo we see something new and that statement held out to be true this time as well. See this fake log, well it's half on our side and half in the black bear exhibit and that lovely lady standing by it is a zoo keeper how is feeding the bears through a hole in the log. If the kids had been brave enough they could have crawled in the log to get a close look at the bear. It would have been safe of course. To tell you the truth, if it hadn't been for all the grown-ups around I would have crawled in myself.

Taking a break

When we went into the bird area it was a little overwhelming. To say that the birds were ravinous would be an understatement. You can tell by Timothy's face that it was a little much.

But being the good natured kid that he is he adjusted quickly.
Now, I know there are about a million pictures of him with the birds but if you had been there you would understand.

He was just in love.

The little birdies would get on the feeder stick and he would get so excited and scream and shout and wave his arms that the bird would fly away out of fright.

Then he would just scream and cuss because he wanted another one.

And then some starving bird would come to him against their better judgment.
(Just look at that face, there was no containing that joy)

And it would happen all over again.

He had a great time. I hated to leave.

Here was the other new thing we got to see, cheetah's. When we come this guy and his mate are always hiding back in the tree, making it almost impossibly for little eyes to see them. But today was an acception, they were just out roaming around. The kids really enjoyed this treat.

Trying new things

Occasional I get a wild hair and want to try something new for dinner and thankfully, even though my husband is a picky eater he welcomes my trying new things.


This time I wanted to try to make Kung Poa Chicken. I decided this after having some at "Panda Press" and then discovering we were growing onions in our backyard. So before dinner one evening the kids and I headed out to the backyard to gather part of dinner.
I love the smell of these onions, it reminds me me of many'a summer day with my sister Courtney.

I didn't even realize that it was October 1st until I was getting things ready for circle time. I am so excited. So not long after school was over I headed out to the garage and started pulling all of my Halloween boxes out. It was fun watching the kids get excited about all of the decorations. And I would be lying if I didn't' tell you I was thrilled to see my witches hat, I think I have had it since high school. I would also by lying (by omission) if I didn't tell you that I spent the rest of the morning doing my chores while wearing the hat.

I would have taken pictures to show you all the festivities but I am to lazy to put the card in the camera. Wow, that's really embarrassing. So for now feel free to look back at pictures of the kids from past Halloween's.
