It came as a surprise to us

Tonight we had our annual budget meeting after Thanksgiving Dinner at church. Less than an hour before dinner began Jeffrey found out the church would be voting on him as an interim youth pastor.
We stopped and prayed for guidance for ourselves and for the church. To sum it up, the will of the Lord to be done.
We talked, we laughed, we fellowshiped, we disciplined children, mostly we ate tons of food. When it came time to make the proposal Jeffrey and I had to leave the room for discussion. We waited and waited and waited. It wasn't as long as some discussion but it seemed long to me but finally we were allowed to come back.
There was more business to attend to and then came the vote..........

He is officially the new interim youth pastor. I was asked if I was excited and you could say yes but really the only thing that will be different is the title. I am extremely proud to say the least. Jeffrey is excited as well, he only wishes his job aloud him more time to develop lessons and be there for the youth.

It's finally Halloween

Hush! I know I am late posting but it's the best I could do. We went to a church that was having a festival. We went last year with some friends and had such a great time we decided to go again. There wasn't anything for Timothy to do except sit there and be cute or sit there and be cute. So he decided toooooo...... you guessed it, sit there and be cute.
I know, I know you are probably tired of seeing the backs of people but I just love pictures like this. Just look at those little wings flappin' in the breeze.
Kati had so much fun. Just look at the bottoms of those tights.
Hey Peter! love the 'fro
Somebody call that boy a barber.
This may be the only game he played all night.

Kati on the other hand slid and bounced the night away.
Fishin'
Oh look, he did do something else. Don't worry, he did get plenty of candy. Kati made sure of that. I just love it when they are sweet to each other.

Casting #4

.....but remember this will on be his third week in casts. Here are some of the supplies. Gotta have gloves, not because of blood or things like that but so that your hands don't turn the color of the casts. Under the gloves is the cotton his legs are wrapped in. And you can hardly see it but there is tubing on top of the cotton wrap that goes on first. The packages contain the cast stuff, you'll have to read real careful on this blog folks I get real technical.
Here is the saw
I have to tell you when Timbo say the nurses he began to whimper. He remembered.
Precious feet
Right foot before casting
Right foot just two weeks in a cast
Left foot pre-casting
Just two weeks later

Isn't he a cutie. Like the extra blue? That's coban, he had a rough spot on one cast so Dr McNewGuy wrapped that around it and thought his other casts should match. Gotta love a fashion sensitive man.

Next week Dr McGoodDaddy will be on vacation so Dr McNG will be doing the castings. Dr McNG came a watched Dr McGD and I have total trust in him.

Flashback Friday

Our First Apartment

I am truly grateful for our little apartment. It was our first home and we will always be grateful for anyplace we live after it. You must first know that when Jeffrey and I got married we were just eighteen but truly knew that God wanted us to be married then. However Jeff worked at Eckerds and I worked at a daycare center so money was not flowing. We needed somewhere to live that was cheap. Cheap we found, I say "we" but it wasn't we our mom's looked, our rent was $270 a month, that included electric and water.

I looked all through our papers, I save everything, to give you the sq footage but I couldn't find it. The apartment people must have had the good sense not to tell us the actual size. Since I don't have the sq footage let me paint a picture for you. It was tiny and when I say tiny I mean keep your canned goods in the linen closet in your bedroom tiny. I mean Jeffrey's feet touched the dryer at the foot of our bed tiny. I'm talking your husband has to keep his clothes in the coat closet in the living room. It's what Realtors call cute, maybe for Barbie.

I should also tell you that these apartments were built in 1941. So there was no central heat and air. We had window units, one we got from Jeff's parents and the other one was our first big purchase. In the southern heat you would sit as close as you possibly could to the window unit and just try and hear the TV over the rumbling. Winter time, oh winter time was a different story. We only had one space heater and you would think that in a place so small it would be stifling hot but it wasn't, no insulation. We would sit in the living room under blankets watching TV (prekids) and then come bed time we would unplug the heater and drag it to our room. We then would plug it in on the other side of the room away from the bed, all three inches, so we wouldn't catch the blankets on fire. My favorite part was getting up in the night to go potty and how my feet would just freeze on the cold bathroom floor.

To this day chilly floors give my butterflies, taking me back to when we were first married.

Back to this no insulation thing, the walls weren't very thick either so you were always welcome to listen in on the neighbors conversations.

Maybe I should also tell you about the management. First off rent was taken to the main office, if you were willing to receive lung cancer upon entering. And the funny thing is they thought their fan kept the room smelling fresh, wrong. Man was it bad, being in that office for less than five minutes left you smelling like you had been a bar all night long not that the grown up me would know what that smells like Daddy.

And their idea of maintenance was a joke.

We discovered a leak in our ceiling and called to have it fixed.
They came.
They tried.
It didn't work.

The next time we had a big storm it leaked again, only this time it filled a light fixture with water.

Are you ready for their stellar advice

are you sure

are you sure you are sure

okay you asked for it

"Put a piece of tape over the light switch so you don't turn it on"

That was our first home and I loved it. I still love it. Honestly, I wouldn't change it, really I wouldn't. We built some beautiful memories there.

Nighty Night Y'all

Right now Daddy is staying the night at our house for a thing, I can't say what the thing is or I would give away or location to much. Anyway last night I retreated to our room while Jeffrey and Daddy sat in the living room talking.

I can't tell you what they said because the words weren't clear but I can almost guarantee you they were discussing the Lord. I can say that because Daddy's voice takes on this soothing tone when he speaks of our Heavenly Father and last night I was lulled to sleep by a very comforting voice. Love you Daddy.

Out with the old and in with the new

I got a new sink y'all. This is just too exciting, I'm trying to not wet my pants here. You just don't understand, I was having to reach under the sink to turn the water on and off and it was getting to be a pain in the butt. I had nifty pictures for you too but apparently you have to burn them to the cd before you delete them for the card, go figure. Jeffrey did a great job putting it in with the assistance of his helper Bear. The kids both love it too. I just love that my kids can so easily be brought to smiles. Kati even asked when we "build" her house could she have a sink like that too. I only have one problem with it. After running hot water in there you just about dang near burn your hand getting food out of the drain. That's got to be a southern thing, I can guarantee you no Yankee has ever said "just about dang near" if they could have said "almost" instead. Lord please never move me from the south, I would miss all the "darlin"'s, "hon"'s, "fixin' ta"'s and "yonder"'s.

Anyway, the sink, I love it. Thanks babe.
